Car chassis/body was originally designed and constructed for personal use and enjoyment by an experienced, highly qualified industrial designer/fabricator. It was sold to his good friend who built the engine which was completed approximately in 2001 and shipped to Colorado. The car spent several years in the buyer’s private collection before being transferred to the son of the original builder, where it remained until early 2024. During this period, the car was driven about 1000 miles. The vehicle was then returned to the original designer/builder for a maintenance refresher and subsequently returned to its owner, now in Florida.

The project began when the original designer/builder decided to create a high-performance personal sportscar with major characteristics similar to the legendary Lotus Seven. As the project began to take form, it was decided to utilize suspension components from the Jaguar XJS in its construction, which resulted in a slightly larger vehicle than the famed Lotus Seven. but with a similar aesthetic and configuration. Adoption of this concept naturally allowed a larger, stronger powertrain as well as more cockpit space.

The small-block Ford V8 was chosen for its compact dimensions and low weight. The engine was purpose-built for increased power, torque and high rpm, with reliability. The engine build included the following components: Edelbrock Per RPM #6025 Aluminum heads, ARP Engine bolts throughout, Canton “T” sump with road race baffles and windage tray oil pan, MSD Ignition, Crane Hi-Intensity Roller Rockers, Motorsport X-303 Camshaft, Edelbrock Perf RPM 302 intake manifold, forged rods and pistons. Components magnafluxed, glass beaded, and balanced, with stainless steel exhaust headers. The car weighs about 1750 lbs. with a 48/52% front/back distribution. Rated at 375 hp.

Transmission is a Borg-Warner 5-speed “World Class” T-5 built to high-performance specifications, including carbon fiber synchro rings.

The chassis utilizes independent front and rear suspension based on the Jaguar components, rack and pinion steering gear, coil-over quad rear shocks/springs and single front shocks/springs, with an adjustable front anti-roll bar. The XJS rear, with fully-independent suspension and quad coil-over adjustable shock absorbers, includes a 3.78:1 ratio limited-slip Dana 44 differential, which has been recently overhauled, completely rebuilt with new bearings and seals. Jaguar disc brakes all-around provide plenty of stopping power. The Carrera adjustable shock absorbers and coil-over springs are fitted front and rear. The Jaguar front and rear hubs have been machined to accept Chevrolet-pattern wheels (Corvette C5), allowing a large variety of available wheel designs and sizes to be easily fitted.

The frame is composed around a lightweight sheet and tubular steel cockpit enclosure with side panels of ?” thick aerospace aluminum honeycomb material and an integrated roll bar. A removable fiberglass body nose (with a GP Ferrari-inspired configuration) and individual fenders form the exterior bodywork.

The cockpit area provides enough adaptable space to accommodate the 6’-3” designer/builder and the installed (and removable) seat cushion/back upholstery is made to fit the 5’- 8” current owner so there is plenty of easy adaptability. The cockpit is also wider than a typical “Seven”. Full instrumentation and a removable steering wheel are fitted .

The brake system was replaced with a Willwood disc brakes system that included new power brake booster, master cylinder and brakes lines. The electrical system was completely reviewed, and all wiring issues were addressed for safe reliable operation.

The 394 period correct Hemi Engine was reported as rebuilt, Florida Rod Shop verified that it was a proper rebuild and completely gone through testing compression , valve train, and main bearings and seals. The engine is 100% verified and performs very well. The engine features a Holley sniper EFI system that was tuned by our technicians.
