Current Projects
At Florida Rod Shop Inc., every build tells a story — and we’re proud to share them with you. Our current projects highlight the craftsmanship, creativity, and precision that go into each vehicle we restore, repair, or custom-build. From classic restorations to high-performance upgrades, this is where you can follow the progress, see the transformation, and experience the passion behind our work.
1966 Chevelle
After meeting with the customer, we were directed to build a period correct street sleeper.
We began with a Roadster Shop Chassis equipped with Wilwood 6 piston front brakes and 4 piston rear brakes. We next commissioned a Fully Built LS3 punched out 441 cubic inches with all forged internals and custom aluminum heads. The 4LE 70 Transmission was built by JW Transmissions to handle 1000 HP. The rear end is a Ford 9” with 331 gearing.
While the chassis was being built, we began a complete body restoration, including new floor pans, rockers, A pillars, and firewall. We replaced the front fenders, and we did laser straight body work to all panels and finished it off with PPG Deltron Black and 4000 series clear.
The car is now married to the chassis and wiring and plumbing is well under way. The engine bay features all hidden wiring and plumbing.
Ford Pantera
This vehicle was purchased from the second owner as a running and driving vehicle. The new owner wanted to go all the way with the car. So, we began with a complete suspension replacement. Then we pulled the 351 Cleveland and built the engine with new forged crank rod and pistons along with the ZF German transaxle which was sent out to be rebuilt by a certified ZF dealer. The car is fully loaded with power brakes, power steering, power windows and even factory A/C.
The body was stripped to bare metal and the body worked laser straight. The engine bay was body worked to show quality. The car was refinished in PPG tuxedo Black with PPG 4000 series car.
The car is nearing completion, with only a few items remaining.
1940 Ford
This father son project was in need of updating, and the owner wanted the WOW factor and put back to all stock exterior features.
Since the car was in very good shape, the owner chose a body on restoration. The car was stripped to bare metal and went through our process of metal treatment, Epoxy sealant, complete metal work rust repairs to better than new condition. All panels were body worked to laser straight condition and painted to show quality PPG Deltron and 4000 series clear.
The interior was designed to complement the Art Deco styling of the 40’s. A rare deluxe dash was procured with all the trim and air brushed to look like real wood. The Seats were prop car low back seats, stitched in beige leather. The door panels and trunk finishes are all matching leather with chrome trim accents. The car features an ultra-suede leather in a complementary color. A completely hidden stereo system was provided operated from a cellular phone.
Getting close to completion now.
Ford Falcon
This 1965 Falcon was a rare find with a rust-free body and a 6-cylinder engine. We fixed that, with a new 347 Stroker engine and AOD E transmission.
To accommodate the new power our team designed a custom ford Mustang II front suspension and a rear 8.8 rear end with a four-link suspension and Willwood brakes on all four corners.
The car body feature laser straight body work with all factory trim straightened and polished. The paint was the factory Color with PPG Deltron and 4000 series clear.
The interior was designed to look and feel like a factory provided stock car. We incorporated Pro Car Low Back seating with factory Vinyl stitching and a 1966 Mustang GT console.
As you can see from the photos this car is in the final stage of wiring and plumbing!

FAQ'S
What’s the difference between a restoration and a resto-mod?
A restoration focuses on returning a vehicle to its original factory condition using period-correct parts. A resto-mod keeps the classic look but upgrades key systems — like the engine, suspension, wiring, and brakes — to modern performance and reliability standards.
How long does a typical resto-mod build take?
Build times vary depending on the level of customization, parts sourcing, and fabrication needed. Most full resto-mod projects take several months to a year. We provide a detailed timeline after evaluating your vehicle and build goals.
Can you swap in a modern engine like an LS, Coyote, or Hemi?
Absolutely. Engine swaps are one of our specialties. We handle the complete integration — wiring, cooling, exhaust, fuel systems, tuning, and driveline components — to ensure everything performs like a modern vehicle.
Do I need to bring my own car, or can you source one for me?
You’re welcome to bring your own vehicle, but we can also help source a suitable classic for your project. Whether you’re starting with a solid foundation or want us to find the perfect candidate, we’ll guide you through the best options.
